There is nothing quite like venturing into the great outdoors and getting some fresh air while at the same time eliminating all of the stress of city living. I have a friend who works for a company called Arlington Electrician Pros. This company is extremely busy because of their excellent reputation for service, honesty, and affordable pricing. Since this company’s services are in high demand it is almost impossible for my friend to take a few days off.
Therefore, I called the owner of Arlington Electrician Pros and asked him if I could surprise my friend with a long weekend camping and hiking trip in the Texas Hill Country area. There are so many excellent hiking trails to explore throughout this area including Garner State Park, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, Colorado Bend State Park, Cibolo Nature Center, and Barton Creek Greenbelt, just to name a few.
The owner of my friend’s company was more than happy to accommodate my request and I immediately called my friend to tell him the good news. I decided that we should investigate Pace Bend Park which is also located in the Texas Hill Country area. This beautiful area has an incredible 9 miles of shoreline alongside the scenic Lake Travis. Pace Bend Park is a popular location for all types of outdoor activities.
The first decision that we had to make was whether to choose the primitive campground or the improved campground. The improved campground has electrical and water hookups, restrooms, and showers. The campground is located just above Levi Cove and it is a short walk to the lake. The primitive camping area, on the other hand, is located on the north and east sides of Pace Bend. There are many primitive campsites among the mesquite and oak trees.
We decided to leave our wives and children at home and since this camping trip was going to be just for the two of us, we chose the primitive camping area. My buddy loves to fish and each morning we were on the lake with our canoe catching a few tasty trout for breakfast. During the day we hiked for miles and miles as we explored the many trails that meandered throughout this beautiful park.
In the evening, we built a campfire and cooked a delicious meal over the open flames. After dinner, we would grab a couple of beers and reminisce over the many adventures that we had growing up together. I love my family but there is something special about spending a few days each year with a lifelong best buddy.
